New York has plentiful taxi and transfer options when it comes to getting to and from the airports. There are good shuttle services as well. In the city, most sightseers opt to walk around and soak up the atmosphere. The grid-system means it's very easy to find your way around. The metro is efficient and reasonably priced, while New York's iconic yellow taxis are everywhere for those who prefer to just hail a cab. The Amtrak rail system connects the city with the other areas of New York state and further afield.
