Getting Around

Public transport covers most of Turkey, so it should be fairly easy to get where you need to go. Alternatively, car hire is feasible and can offer great value for money, but roads can be hectic and the Highway Code is often ignored. Trains and buses are available if you’re planning a long distance trip, while the network of dolmus minibuses is popular for getting around towns and resorts. Taxis are also plentiful.

Antalya Favourites

With over 600 kilometres of coastline, Antalya has some fantastic beaches - here are our favourites.

At Lara Beach, watersports, beach clubs, restaurants, cafes and nightclubs make this one of the best beaches if you want to be in the heart of al the action.

Three natural harbours set alongside the ruins of an old sea-port city dating back to the 7th Century BC is what you’ll find at Phaselis Beach.

Adrasan Beach boasts unspoilt nature, crystal-clear water and dramatic landscapes which make this beach well worth the less than glamorous hobble over the pebbles.

According to legend, Mark Antony gifted Cleopatra beach to Cleopatra, and she had sand specially brought from Egypt. Believe it or not, but this is a beautiful beach.

Korsan Bay - This secluded cove is surrounded by two large rock formations on either side and feels incredibly and wonderfully isolated - a pleasing antidote to busier beaches.

Party Time

If you like to get active after dark, Turkey will never disappoint.

Bodrum is brimming with fantastic bars and clubs where you can show off your best moves and sip cocktails until the early hours of the morning.

Try Halikarnas, the world’s largest outdoor club, or head for the glass-bottomed floating nightclub – the latter isn’t advised if you suffer sea-sickness though, not with the added vino!

For those who want lively nightlife, head for the Kordon and Alsancak areas of Izmir. You’ll find nightclubs to dance until the sun comes out and bars with dizzying cocktail lists.

If you want a more relaxed evening, stick to the beach bars, and countless pubs and wine bars which line the resort waterfronts.

The nightlife in Marmaris exceeds all expectations, whether you’re looking for a laid-back evening or set on staying out until the early hours. Warm up on Bar Street where you'll find a variety of venues before hitting Club Areena or the Rock Bar (if you’re hoping for guitar riffs rather than pumping tunes!).
