Spring:

Summer:

Luckily, the buildings are made to withstand this heat and visitors can find refuge in air-conditioned compounds and aquaparks.

Autumn:

• With average highs of 34 – 36°C and lows of 20 - 21°C, the Dubai heat eases slightly in Autumn.
• The sea is pleasantly warm in Autumn, making it the perfect season to enjoy Dubai’s fantastic beaches and the chance to partake in water sports. The slight drop in temperature and lower humidity make it an ideal time to enjoy outdoor activities.
• With the drop in temperature, Dubai ramps up its events: you can find more festivals and concerts than in the summer months. Also, in Autumn, Dubai’s peak season is yet to hit. So, the autumn months can be a pocket-friendly time to visit Dubai and you should still be able to find good deals on flights and accommodation.

Winter:

• Even during Dubai’s coolest months, the weather is still relatively warm. Daytime averages hover at 22 – 26°C and lows of 12 – 15°C. So, be sure to pack warmer clothes for the evening. It rarely rains in Dubai but be aware that February tends to be the wettest month, with an average of 35 mm (1.4 in) of rain.
• Winter is a fantastic time to visit Dubai. The city becomes a festive feast for the eyes with spectacular Christmas decorations. Dubai Mall houses its very own Winter Wonderland complete with carousels and fun for the entire family.
• If you’re in the market for fantastic offers, the Dubai Shopping Festival takes place across the months of December and January, with incredible deals to be had at some of the city’s most famous outlets. Winter is peak season in Dubai, meaning everything is open and the atmosphere is vibrant. It’s also the perfect location if you’re craving some winter sunshine.

For adventurous little monkeys, there’s nothing better than whizzing through the trees and tackling obstacle courses in the outdoors. Aventura Parks has all this and more. With forest escape games, iconic ziplines and climbing walls, there is fun to be had by both little and big kids alike.

Give your kids a taste of what it’s like to be you at Kidzania. This miniature universe located in Dubai Mall allows children to slip into the role of an adult for a day. From learning to drive, attending university, opening bank accounts and shopping at the supermarket, kids rule the roost in this 7,000 sqm “city”.

For the race driver in all of us, take your family for a day of dune bashing, which involves buckling up into a 4×4 vehicle and being hurled against towering sand dunes. The day also includes sandboarding down the dunes, not to mention the incredible desert landscape you get to take in in the midst of all the action.

For thrill-seekers and rollercoaster lovers, Dubai has a wide range of theme parks and aquaparks. Try Legoland and Motion Park, which features rides based on familiar favourites like Shrek and Ghostbusters. Splash parks abound for smaller members of the family, while Atlantis Aquapark has over 105 record-breaking slides and attractions.

Sci-fi lovers will revel in a visit to The Museum of the Future. Filled with futuristic exhibitions and interactive displays, there’s a whole section just for children to explore.

When you add to this, safari adventure days, hiking the Hatta Mountains, scaling skyscrapers and marvelling at the spectacles at Global Village, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Who knew bedtime could be this easy?

Morning

• The best way to spend a day when on Dubai holidays is by partaking in a traditional breakfast. Head out early and get yourself to The Arabian Tea House in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood comes highly recommended and you can follow up by exploring the Old Dubai area and meandering along the Dubai Creek. If you like, you can also take a small boat across the creek to visit the gold and spice souks on the other side.
• From there, make a beeline for Dubai Mall and marvel at all it has to offer. You can choose to peruse the shops, visit the iconic aquarium or let your kids loose at Kidzania.

Afternoon

• Take the chance to have lunch from a height and head up to the Burj Khalifa viewing deck. You can combine your visit with dining at one of the two restaurants.
• As the afternoon progresses and temperatures cool, head out to the desert for a safari. For an even stronger surge of adrenaline, you can combine your tour with dune bashing, quad biking and sand boarding.
• Alternatively, you may wish to unwind at one of Dubai’s fantastic beaches. Beaches in Dubai are unparalleled in their facilities and many of them boast upmarket beach clubs, shopping facilities and a range of dining options.
• If you’re heading to the beach with kids in tow, then check out JBR Beach, which has an unbeatable range of activities on offer to keep the little ones busy.

Night

• Stick around in the desert to have dinner, stargaze and view the wildlife (such as desert owls, hares and foxes) or head back into the city and dive into everything the night has to offer.
• Begin by watching Dubai Fountain work its magic while lit up in all its glory before having dinner at one of Dubai’s many top-class restaurants. Alternatively, head to one of the beach bars and enjoy your favourite drink right by the side of the water.
• Global Village is also a fantastic option for night-time entertainment, with nightly shows and a range of restaurants offering cuisine from around the globe. It’s a great night out whether you’re in a couple, with friends or with family.

• Nightclubs: Dress to impress as you head out for a night on the town in Dubai. Nightclubs, frequently located on teetering floors of hotels or skyscrapers, are plenty. And there is something for every single music genre. Hip-hop, salsa, techno, cabaret, house, jazz… you name it, it’s there.
• Bars: Mixology is practically an elite sport in Dubai. And there are bars to suit all tastes: from speakeasies to sky bars to sports bars and taverns. Enjoy a classic pint or sip on top-shelf liquor on the top floor of one of the city’s iconic buildings and marvel at the views of the city while it’s lit up like a Christmas tree.
• Beach Bars: Not a fan of heights? No problem. Head to one of the beach clubs where the party often continues into the night and you can sample delicious drinks while a DJ spins your favourite tracks right by the sea.
• Shows and entertainment: For something different, head out on a yacht from the marina. Or enjoy a live performance of theatre and acrobatics at Al Habtoor City. Global Village often has impressive shows and festivals taking place through the night, with fireworks and live music. Or, simply take a tour of the city and see it lit up in its splendour. Be sure to catch a glimpse of Dubai Fountain, which is especially breathtaking at night-time.

Unsurprisingly, the food and drink scene on holidays in Dubai is as vibrant, innovative and ambitious as its architecture. With a culinary landscape that spans global traditions, from street food to haute cuisine, it is impossible to go hungry in this veritable smorgasbord of a city.

A typical Emirati breakfast includes dishes such as balaleet (slightly sweet vermicelli cooked with cardamom, cinnamon and saffron, topped with an omelette), dango (chickpeas) and bajella (fava beans). And breakfast dishes tend to be served with breads like khameer, chebab and tanoor. The breakfast beverage of choice is Karak, a sweet milky tea prepared from black tea brewed with cardamom and occasionally saffron or other spices, and fresh or condensed milk.

If you’re looking for something a little more familiar, fear not. With over 200 nationalities residing in Dubai, you can find your favourite sourdough at many a brunch spot. And, although Dubai loves its Karak, speciality coffee shops abound also.

For an authentic, tasty and economical option, head to one of Dubai’s many street food markets. Don’t be fooled into thinking the food at these markets is below par. On the contrary, at these stalls and trucks, you’ll find a vast range of delicious eats to suit both local and international palates. For haute cuisine, 19 restaurants in Dubai currently hold a Michelin Star. Among these stars, you’ll find Japanese, Portuguese, Indian, Italian, French and even British restaurants.
