Sharm El Sheikh is an ideal relaxing getaway destination with plenty of opportunities for adventure. Situated on the southeastern coast of the Sinai Peninsula, Sharm El Sheik has a rich history, despite today being known mainly as a modern beach resort. It served as a small Bedouin village for over a hundred years, but today is home to all inclusive resorts and amazing beaches. The resort has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent times. Once again millions of tourists plan holidays in Sharm el Sheikh every year.
When you arrive, you can relax on the never-ending beaches, dive to explore beautiful coral reefs, and sample the top nightlife. This is why Sharm El Sheikh ranks as one of the best beach holiday destinations in the world. So prepare to sunbathe and swim at the beach, tour the Old Town and visit famous historical sites on your holiday in Sharm El Sheikh.
A trip is incomplete without giving your taste buds some pleasure at the finest restaurants - Beirut Bay Restaurant, El Masrien Grill and Four Seasons Resort are just a few! Plan a holiday between November to April to experience lovely warm temperatures and fewer crowds.
There are plenty of reasons why Sharm el Sheikh holidays should be high on your holiday bucket list.
During summer, the temperature at Sharm el Sheikh reaches 34 degrees Celsius, so people tend to avoid the peak months of July and August. It is advised to visit from April to May and September to October when the heat is warm but more bearable. Also, the Ras Mohammed National Park, Ras Um Sid and Tiran Island diving sites have fewer crowds during these months.
During the winter season, November to April is the best time to plan holidays in Sharm el Sheikh. The warm but not too hot temperatures make Sharm el Sheikh perfect for popular outdoor activities like camel riding and desert excursions during these months, as well as relaxing on the beach.

Taxis are readily available in Sharm el Sheikh. They should have a meter, but it’s recommended to agree on a fare before you get in. There is also a fleet of reliable microbuses that run locals and tourists around the region, while other buses go further afield. If you’re staying in Na’ama Bay, everything should be walkable.
Microbuses can be identified by their blue and white colour, and can be hailed by waving (or just looking!) at them. They’re cheap, and have fixed routes that will get you around Sharm easily.
It’s recommended that you leave your driving licence at home and trust those who are experienced on Egypt’s roads. Stick to taxis and buses to get you from A to B.
You don’t need a visa for a holiday in Sharm lasting up to 15 days (but do need one for other areas of Egypt – so take note if you’re planning a trip to Cairo or Luxor). You will also need a valid passport with at least 6 months left on it.
