Holidays to Pineda de Mar

Pineda de Mar is an idyllic seaside resort down south in Costa Brava, just 55km outside of Barcelona and 45km from Girona Airport. Pineda de Mar holidays are popular with European locals, holidaymakers, and ex-pats alike thanks to its warm and welcoming climate, natural beauty, and smorgasbord of bars and restaurants.

Those seeking solo travel or a romantic getaway for their Pineda de Mar holidays can be left to relax on the beaches; stretches of golden sands adorned with the European Blue Flag award for cleanliness, before enjoying the vibrant bars and nightlife. Nomads looking to soak up the history and culture can explore the Old Town streets and alleyways. Peruse the traditional architecture which dates back over 2,000 years and investigate the ruins of an ancient Roman Aquaduct; now overgrown with mosses and weeds, but once such an integral part of this municipality.

Holidays to Pineda de Mar also boast a supervised children’s park running throughout July/August, complete with activities, inflatables, and watersports, meaning the whole family can enjoy Pineda de Mar holidays in the summer months. Take the blue tour bus route to be immersed in all the must-see moments or choose the green tour bus route to be dropped at the stunning Montenegro National Park for a refreshing hike. Pineda de Mar’s unique gastronomy, art, and culture is flavoured by its generous geographic blend of sea and mountains.

A Guide to Pineda de Mar Holidays

Marineland Catalunya

Marineland Catalunya

A family waterpark with thrills for all. Opening its doors in 1984, Marineland is one of Spain’s first Marine Zoos. Take on the fast and furious rides, splash about in toddler friendly pools, and be amazed by the dolphin show. More than just a water park, Marineland Catalunya is home to parrots, flamingoes, sea lions, and more! Exotic bird shows are a must see, and guests can spend hours immersing themselves in walking along next to huge aquariums.

Watersports

Water lovers are in for a treat, with an abundance of splash-tastic activities available in the resort including jetskiing, diving, sailing and leisurely boat rides – enough to please anyone seeking the ultimate beach day. The watersports centre is central, reasonably priced, and the customer service is delivered with a smile. We suggest enquiring about scuba diving experiences for the chance to be professionally trained and guided on a one-hour submarine adventure, where you can get up close with all kinds of exotic fish - including bottle nose dolphins. Receive discounts for booking more than one activity.

Montpalau

This vast mountain peak is ideal to climb with castle ruins of medieval Turó de Montpalau and an old wheat mill to explore en route. 406 metres high, Montpalau is the highest point of the presidential area of Can Carreres. Montpalau is also home to a functioning Baroque church of Santa Maria. Fill your lungs with fresh, clean air; the hike is well worth breaking a sweat as you cross streams and bridges. At the top you’ll be rewarded with a panoramic view of the whole village and ocean shoreline.

Castle Of Santa Florentina

Chosen as a back-drop for popular HBO fantasy Game of Thrones, this 11th century castle’s grandeur will have you feeling amazed and humbled. The castle was built on the ruins of an Ancient Roman villa and was once the centre of the wine-making region. Now retired from defending the settlement against pirate attacks, this 11th century castle has had its chambers refurbished and is open for touring to take you back in time. Although there is no specific GoT tour, it’s well worth a visit to learn about the real history of this regal palace.
