In the daytime, you can hike from the pretty hilltop chapel Profitis Elias to the nearest beach, hop on a boat trip and visit neighbouring islets and resorts, or choose a balmy beach to lounge on and soak up the Mediterranean sun. When evening arrives head into Protaras Avenue for an excellent line-up of restaurants and bars, or if you want to go one step further than the pubs, party-central Ayia Napa is just a 10-minute drive away. One of the best ways of seeing the area is from the sky, and what better way to do so than being strapped to a parasail? It’s not for the faint-hearted, but being towed along behind a speedboat is an experience to try at least once. Besides the thrill, the views of Protaras are second to none – when you’re not being dunked in the sea, anyway!
