2021 USA Holidays – something to look forward to – take two

In Tuesday’s blog we declared that we would be waking up to a new president, well, like so many things we all planned for in 2020; that didn’t happen!

So, with confidence, we predict that today, Friday 6th November, we will know who has won the US election (barring legal challenges, naturally) and with the delay we have decided to spin out our own US focus much longer than anticipated too. If it’s good enough for The Donald, it’s good enough for us.

This week we’ve already sold you on a 2021 holiday to New York, San Francisco or Orlando, this time we’re going to explore some US holiday destinations that are a little less popular with UK visitors but immensely popular with US travellers themselves; Clearwater, Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale #springbreak!

We reckon there will be millions of people really wanting to let their hair down and live it large on their 2021 holiday and we can’t think of three US destinations better suited to largesse than these.

Los Angeles Holiday 2021?

Everyone has their own idea about what LA is. A glitzy, star studded utopia full of mansions and boutique emporiums – yes in Beverley Hills or up in Malibu County; that’s true. A sleazy, down at heel, crime addled, no-go gangland, well, on Skid Row and Pico-Union that’s also true (but we don’t sell any hotels there!). However, Los Angeles is also a working city of four million inhabitants who ply a plethora of trades from A listers to zoo keepers and as such the city caters to a variety of incomes, lifestyles, preferences and predilections. The truth is Los Angeles is all these things and more and as such, with a little planning, can offer the ideal holiday to everyone.

Beach lovers can kick back on some of the finest beaches on the west coast from nearby Santa Monica and up the coast through Malibu and Santa Barbara County. Shopaholics are guaranteed their fix in Bel-Air and Beverley Hills. Thrill seekers can fill their boots at Disneyland, Universal Studios, Warner Bros or the Six Flags Magic Mountain. Art lovers can geek out at the Getty Museums, LACMA and The Broad. Foodies can salivate at the world’s finest cuisines in beautiful restaurants in West Hollywood as well drive among the vines of Santa Ynez/Santa Barbara wine county up (and sideways) along coast. Whatever you love; you’ll find the very best of it in Los Angeles.

A 7 night holiday to Los Angeles starts from as little as £612 per person in March 2021 with flights included.

Fort Lauderdale Holiday 2021?

Springbreak Baby! Spring break, who didn’t have the best reputation to start with, really came in for a telling off in 2020 as the revellers on the Florida Beaches were scorned for not exactly keeping to the social distancing rules. Luckily for us non-students, Spring Break comes but once a year, and for the rest of the year Fort Lauderdale is a regular, clean, up-market Florida resort with a ton to offer.

On the Atlantic Coast and accessible via Orlando or Miami airports, Fort Lauderdale is just up the coast from Miami, making this is a great stop in a Florida Multi-Centre holiday. Fort Lauderdale itself is a super holiday for families, thanks to the stunning clean beaches and the range of waterparks and museums in the city for kids. Even if it rains, which is ultra rare, there’s plenty to do in Fort Lauderdale whatever the weather. We recommend checking out Paradise Cove waterpark if the heavens do open.

We also recommend the Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale from £645 per person for 7 nights including flights.

Clearwater Holiday 2021?

Lastly, from one side of the panhandle to the other, the gem of the gulf coast, may we present Clearwater Florida.

Voted the city with the most beautiful beach in the USA several years over, Clearwater, as the name suggests, offers beautiful waters ideal for kids and water-sports. Over the years, the popularity with the locals has meant that Brits on holiday in this area tend to wax and wane with the exchange rate. In the early noughties the Clearwater, St Petes, Tampa triangle was choc-full of British holiday makers but as the dollar strengthened to near parity today, the hotel prices have become a little punchy to say the least!

A 4 star hotel will run over £1000pp including flights for a week in Clearwater. However, it’s worth the money to be on the beach and for this we recommend the 4* Hilton Clearwater Beach. This colossal hotel stands upon 10 acres of Clearwater Beach and overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. Guests can enjoy the two outdoor swimming pools, and the stretch of private sand directly accessed from the hotel. Food and drink is served on the beach from one of the three in-house restaurants and the hotel is home to a vibrant Tiki Bar on the beachfront. Bonus!

With our free amendment policy, even if the situation with Covid continues you can move your 2021 holiday to another date later in the year but why not book today and give the family something to look forward too?

This is our last in the series on US holidays for 2021 (in 2020), even if Donald drags the election out until 2021 and that’s a promise you can count on.
