Sharm El Sheikh A Year-Round Paradise
At the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, on Egypt’s Red Sea coastline, lies the resort of Sharm El Sheikh. Its name means Bay of the Senior and has also been referred to as the City of Peace because of the number of peace conferences that have been held there. It’s also often referred to simply as Sharm.
Whatever you choose to call it, it is one extremely popular year-round destination and one that should be included in any holiday wish list. Here are a few reasons why holidays to Sharm should be on your holiday radar.
Plenty of Hotels & Resorts
Hotels in this region are vast and rather than finding skyscrapers here, hotels are spread out across acres of land instead due to high-rise building restrictions. Wherever you are, your views will not be interrupted or disrupted by any tall buildings.
Year-Round Sun
Thanks to its sub-tropical, desert climate, Sharm enjoys a year-round dry climate with long hot summers and warm winter months where the temperature rarely drops below 18C -24C. Perfect for winter sun holidays!
Diving Hotspot
Its location on the Red Sea coastline with crystal clear turquoise blue waters lapping its golden sands, means it is blessed with one the world’s richest coral reefs. You do not even need to be a diver to enjoy the treasures of this magnificent underwater world with its abundant marine life and vibrant colours. A simple mask and snorkel are all you need to feast your eyes on the most fulfilling and satisfying underwater experience. And you can do this again and again, day after day, for the duration of your stay without ever tiring of the mesmerising underwater activity around the coral reefs. For the keen diver, the scuba diving scene in and around Sharm El Sheikh is spectacular with the nearby Ras Mohamed National Park being worth a visit. And if you don’t fancy snorkelling or diving, you can still enjoy catching the sun’s rays by simply lying out and sunbathing on the golden sands and simply dipping into the clear waters of the ocean for quick swims and cooling-off purposes!
Buzzing Nama Bay
Away from the sea, the hub of activity centres around a natural bay in Sharm El Sheikh known as Nama Bay. If you’re not actually staying in Nama Bay, it is easily reachable from anywhere in Sharm El Sheikh by way of a short taxi ride. You can simply wander around, taking in the sights and sounds of this lively central spot in Sharm El Sheikh, or you can take part in everything that Nama Bay has to offer. Here is where you’ll find all the cafes, restaurants, bars, and clubs away from your hotel for days or evenings out. It’s also where you’ll find all the shops and bazaars where you can buy anything from your holiday souvenirs to luxury wares and expensive jewellery.
Unique Nightlife
For an evening out in the quiet darkness of the desert, you can venture out, deep into the Sinai Desert for and a meal prepared for you by the welcoming desert-dwelling Bedouins while star gazing and spotting stars and planets through specifically specialised telescopes.
Why not take a holiday to Sharm in 2024 and experience all this and more for yourself?
