Up and Coming Destinations in 2022

With 2021 drawing to a close, now is the time to start thinking about your holiday for next year. Whilst we are certain that popular hotspots like Spain, Turkey and Greece will rightly continue to draw the most crowds, there are always a few relatively hidden gems that are worth considering if you want a sunny holiday with a twist.

Here we highlight our top up and coming holiday destinations for 2022 that we think are going to be red hot!

Sri Lanka

With national parks ideal for safaris and tea plantations which allow you to taste some of the best tea on the planet, Sri Lanka is a holiday destination with a twist all right! With over 1,300km of coastline boasting palm tree lined beaches, getting a tan whilst experiencing a traditional beach holiday is definitely doable. But there is so much more to see and do here it would be a crime to miss out on some of the more exotic aspects of the island, such as the unmissable traces of ancient civilization that are hard to miss throughout the island, the friendly locals and colourful, vibrant food you just have to try. Take a safari in Yala National Park to get a closer look at elephants and leopards, or visit Anuradhapura, the first sacred capital of Sri Lanka. Choose to visit the historical capital Colombo or travel further afield to enjoy Negombo or the calm tranquility of Bentota. Wherever you choose to base yourselves, Sri Lanka holidays will not disappoint. Temperatures rarely drop much below 30 degrees even in winter, but make sure you avoid monsoon seasons which hit different places on the island at different times. If you’re heading to the west or south coasts then you’re best going between December and March. If you’re intending to make your way to the east coast or the north you’ll find the best time of year to visit is from April to September.

Cuba

From colourful colonial era buildings to Insta-perfect beaches, the energetic island of Cuba offers year round sunshine and is set to be a huge crowd puller in 2022. With tranquil beach resorts that make you feel like you are going back in time to the buzzing city of Havana, Cuba caters for all tastes and requirements. The capital Havana is steeped in history and offers cultural gems just waiting to be explored such as the 1950s style cars that Havana is famous for. Away from the capital there is some beautiful scenery to explore and we recommend you get into the heart of the island via an excursion to see the real Cuba and meet some of the fabulous locals. The dry season months of March and April are the best months to visit for Cuba holidays. It’s dry and warm during this time, with average temperatures sitting at 27-29˚C during the day, and comfortable at night too.

Goa

Sitting on the west coast of India, Goa is the destination that Indians themselves visit to relax and holiday in, so you know it is going to be good! With its welcoming people and rich history there is more to Goa than just beaches, but if it is beaches you want then you have come to the right place. Travellers to India know that at times the big cites can be overwhelming to first time visitors, which is perhaps why a holiday to Goa is the perfect place to get a feel for this wonderful country. It is laid back like European holiday destinations but still has that wonderful mix of amazing foods and history to explore that showcases what true India can offer. Goa has a tropical climate with high temperatures throughout the year - the best time to visit is between December and March when the weather is most settled and you avoid the rain and humid conditions that comes with it.
