Here we are again, another Monday! However with the weather set to be glorious here in the UK for the next few days we still firmly have luxury holidays on the mind! So why not start your week with a dose of travel news to see what is going on and to get your mind into beach mode like us!

Best Value Destinations for 2022 Revealed

We all love to look after the pennies, so knowing where you can get the most bang for your buck this year is doubly important with the cost of everything in life rising fast. A timely report by the Post Office’s Travel Money's Annual Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer compared the cost of tourist items in 36 places worldwide (these items include a three-course evening meal, a beer, a coffee & sun cream amongst others) to see which resorts offered the best value for tourists.

The best value destination was Marmaris in Turkey, followed by Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach and the Algarve in Portugal. At the other end of the scale, we know that some destinations are always expensive, and the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik was deemed to be the most expensive once again this year – but those Northern Lights are always worth the money in our view!

The good news for Brits is that the pound is relatively strong at the moment which helps to keep costs down in foreign destinations, so although you may be feeling the squeeze of the cost of living crisis, rest assured knowing that you will always be able to find a cheap holiday abroad which won’t cost you an arm and a leg!

Excruciating TripAdvisor Reviews you won’t believe!

Every year someone painstakingly goes through some of the reviews of top hotels from around the world and picks out some of the most bizarre complaints and comments from people who just cannot be pleased. As reported in The Daily Mail, top London hotels such as the Langham, Savoy, Corinthia and Ritz hotels may cost many hundreds if not thousands of pounds to stay in each night, but that doesn’t meant they always please everyone.

One reviewer criticized the £600 a night Langham hotel for not having any ‘biscuits or chocolates’ waiting in her room upon arrival. According to the Mail, anoter hotle that was in a reviewers crosshairs was ‘The Dorchester, where rooms are priced from £995…. was panned by user ‘OxfordHalalFoodie’, for having ‘boring sandwiches’’.

The £600 a night Savoy hotel does not escape. One reviewer likened it to a Disney attraction in a scathing review of the top London hotel.
These reviews will come as no surprise to any hotel owner and goes to show no matter how fancy the hotel or expensive the rooms it really is impossible to please everybody.

A post shared by Hong Kong

The great reopening continues! A ban on UK flights to Hong Kong is to be lifted from April 1, as well as flights from countries that include USA, Canada, Australia, India and France. However Hong Kong still has some strict COVID measures in place so visitors shouldn’t get too excited just yet. Whilst quarantine is set to be halved to seven days, there is still a limit on who can sit at a table in a restaurant after 6pm and nightclubs, pubs and beaches still remain shut for the time being.
