Much like the rest of Turkey, the best way to get around Bodrum is by dolmus bus - it’s cheap, efficient and very frequent. These are shared minibus taxis that follow fixed routes. They can get very overcrowded so private hire taxis and minibuses are also a good option for longer trips and transfers. Hiring a car is easy, and getting around the resorts on foot is usually a great bet.
There is one main dolmus station in Bodrum, but you can flag one down anywhere along its route and hop off wherever you like. Travel is cheap and convenient, but buses can get very busy so be ready to squash up!
You can hire a car from the airport or once you’re in resort. Roads can be challenging in the city, so you may wish to avoid driving in the centre, but the surrounding resorts are easier. Drive on the right-hand side.
